Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Walter Hot Asphalt Truck - By David Flynn

Here's another look at David Flynn's great little kitbashed asphalt truck. This is a 1/87 model of a 1935 Walter FCKD bituminous distributor (tar truck) that he made around 1989. The prototype was used by the Town of Smithtown for 29 years. The model is kitbashed using a cab from a Wiking (Bussing?), hood is from a Wiking 1930s Mercedes, wheels are from a Roco US 6x6 prime mover and big fuel trailer. The tank body is cut down from an old small Roco US Army 6x6 tanker. The exhaust pipe is a paper clip and the mirrors were added recently from a Sheepscot IH R Series. The plow hoists are sheet plastic. Also shown in Photo Gallery 146.
