Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

JK Freight Lines Western Star COE - By Johannes Kamitter

Here is another look at young German modeler Johannes Kamitter's terrific model from for his fictitious trucking company, JK Freight Lines. The truck tractor is a Western Star cabover from the late '70s. The tractor started out as a Promotex Peterbilt 362E that was heavily reworked. At first the opening for the grille in the front was widened so that the scratchbuilt Western Star grille fits in after painting. The roof was lengthened, the cab windows and the steps were modified, and the bottom of the cab was chamfered. After painting Johannes installed an Alloy-Forms panorama windscreen and the gasket around was made of styrene. Also, the wipers, turn signals, grab handles and the Western Star emblem. The chassis was stretched and equipped with A-Line fuel tanks. The snow chains are from A-Line, too. The exhaust, chain rack with lights mounted on it, and the toolboxes around the tractor were built from styrene. The chrome on the exhaust pipes and the grille is Alclad II and the bumper is mirror foil. Also shown in Photo Gallery 345.
