Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Vintage Peterbilt Oilfield Rig - By Rod Reilly

Rod Reilly built this truck for the www.modeltrainsweathered.com "Sows Ear to Silk Purse Spring Vehicle Build Challenge." The Challenge was to take a toy-like HO vehicle like so many of the IMEX trucks (Rod's words, not ours.......), add detail and accuracy and upgrade it into a more prototypical model. The truck is a 1940 Peterbilt oilfield swabbing rig built from the IMEX Peterbilt cab with some of the wheels and tires from the IMEX unit and parts of the IMEX chassis. The bed equipment was kitbashed and scratchbuilt with plastic, resin and brass parts. It represents an oil field swabbing rig unit after twenty years of hard service.
