Oshkosh Snow Plow/Salt Spreader - By David Flynn

David Flynn tells us several of our recent galleries inspired him to get a Matchbox Oshkosh 6x6 and modify it to match the paint scheme used by the Smithtown (NY) Highway Dept. He shortened the plow from the runway type to a reversible expressway type, typical of the ones used in that town. The salt spreader body was made by combining a Herpa body and a Boley body to make a 15 foot long body. David says it is amazing how similar they are. The back end of the spreader was scratchbuilt out of sheet plastic. David kept the wheels but repainted them to look more prototypical and replaced the beacon light with some clear amber plastic. The decals are homemade.
