Refrigerated Freight Lines Truck Fleet - By Ray Foot

First-time contributor Ray Foot submitted these kitbashed replicas of real New Zealand trucks that were operating during the '70s-'80s. They are replicas of trucks his father (Jeff Foot) drove for Refrigerated Freight Lines (RFL). RFL was the number one refrigerated carrier in New Zealand during the '60s-'80s; they were a sought after company to work for back in the day. Ray had the trailer decals custom made though he's still waiting for door logo decals, fleet numbers, etc. but they are mostly complete. The cabover Mercedes (338 model) trucks are from Brekina and these are the very first trucks Jeff drove when he started at RFL back in 1971. The R600 Mack is an Athearn model. The Kenworth was built from a Promotex Freightliner cut down to a day cab with the windshields enlarged and a new flat front panel replacing the angled Freightliner one. To complete the transformation, an Athearn W900 Kenworth grille was narrowed and installed along with the headlights and bumper. This truck represents a 1971 Canadian assembled Kenworth.
