Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

James Bond Lotus Esprit - By Thomas Leuchtmann

Thomas Leuchtmann built this model of the Lotus Esprit from the James Bond Movie, "The Spy Who Loved Me". Not the "normal" version but the submarine version! The origin of the model was a 87RPM-kit made by Peter Rings. Thomas closed the wheel arches with Evergreen styrene profiles and built the rear bumper by using more Evergreen profiles. The thrusters are made of thin metal foil wrapped around a thin rod. The windows are made of so-called "lentikular" foil, which can be found on 3D postcards. Thomas created a little underwater scene by using the case of a Schuco model. He covered the ground completely with putty and painted it in light blue, light brown and light green to represent the seabed. A few mosses and some small boulders complete the whole scene. The model itself "floats" on two pedestals, made of clear Evergreen plastic rods.
