1972 Ford F-750 Western States Fire Truck - By Brandon Hintz

Brandon Hintz combined an Athearn Ford F-850 front mount pump fire truck chassis and resin cab casting purchased of eBay from someone (most likely from the Lindberg kit). Brandon modified the Athearn interior to fit inside the cab and flush mounted the windshield. The light bar, cowl mounted warning lights, spot lights, and turn signals were transferred over from the Athearn truck. The windshield wipers are from A-Line, fire extinguisher from Ralph Ratcliffe, and the mirrors are modified Plano Model Products pieces. He also added all the handles to the gate valves on the front pump and added the rope pull to the ladders and added the rear tow eyelet. The grille and windshield surroundĀ are finished in Bare Metal Foil and the truck was painted in chrome yellow. The decals are homemade and the fire department is fictitious. Brandon says the tank body/hose bed most closely resembles that of manufacturer Western StatesĀ of the late '60s thru the '70s bodies. Brandon based his model on a 1972 Ford F750 cab/chassis (1972 was the last year for round turn signals and fender mounted side marker lights; after that they were incorporated into one piece and of square design. Plus the grill and hood were slightly changed for the '73 and up so the Lindberg cab is a '72 or older model).
