Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Captured Ford Truck in German Military WWII Service - By Rick Hoskinson

This Ford truck model is very unusual in that it has dual rear axles and was captured in either Belgium or Holland during WWII and converted to a special purpose vehicle by the Wehrmacht. This model is a marriage of a late war adp German Ford truck cab with earlier front fenders. The cargo bed came from a Roco Henschel G33. The chassis was lengthened by adding the rear frame rails and suspension from a second model. The side doors were scratchbuilt and added to the bed. Other scratchbuilt details include cargo bed door tarp made from wine bottle foil, exhaust tail pipe, lollipop mirror, fuel filler neck and cap, tail light housing and license plates as well as the under bed storage boxes. Added details include A-Line wipers and MV Products tail light lens. Paint is Model Masters Panzer Gray with a custom mix for the tarp. Decals are from TL and weathering was done with washes, dry pigments and art pencils. Reference photo in bottom view shows the original prototype vehicle.
