Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Tonkin Replicas Caterpillar Market Research Product Survey Results

We want to thank everyone who participated in our Tonkin Replicas market research survey for potential Caterpillar models in 1/87 (HO) scale. Our survey results are presented below with the highest scoring candidate on the left and lowest scoring on the right. We've included the "No Vote" percentages as well to gauge relative interest in each category.[posted 01/02/2013]

Compact Construction Equipment

This category proved to very popular with survey respondents! The clear winner here is the Caterpillar 299D compact track loader with the 272D skid steer loader a not too distant second. We believe the 299D to be not only a popular choice but one of the best opportunities to add a much needed and unique model to 1/87 scale! The 272D skid steer would certainly make a viable second model from this group,

Power Generation (Genset)

The power generation/genset category produced a surprise (at least to us) winner in the C15 ACERT choice. We can't help but wonder if the notion of using the engine from this potential model in truck kitbashing possibilities didn't occur to many of you. It will be very interesting to see how the Tonkin choice plays out if they decide to produce a model from this category.
