Knothole Timber Co. '31 Ford Logging Truck - By Michael Smith

Michael Smith submitted these pictures of his “Knothole Timber Co’s” 1931 Ford logging trucks. They both started as Con-Cor ’31 Ford dump truck kits. The lumber truck has the bed from a Jordan Packard truck with the side rails and headache rack made from Central Valley board fence. If you look closely you can see knotholes in the headache rack. The lumber load is scale 2x12’s. The log truck has scratchbuilt log supports from balsa and Evergreen Styrene and Hercules log bunks. Thanks to Hank’s Truck Pictures web site for prototype detail photos of original '30s Ford log trucks. The tool box behind the cab is from Busch and the log chain box on the trailer is scratchbuilt. Decals are from Con-Cor, wheels from CMW, and a dose of chalk and Dullcote for weathering.
