Caterpillar D9R Bulldozer - By Trevor Hinze

Trevor Hinze created this remarkable 3D printed D9R Caterpillar dozer using prototype photos and drawings to be as exacting as it could possibly be. Trevor attempted to add even the smallest features down to individual bolt heads to lend as much detail as possible. It is printed on a high resolution 3D resin printer in about 15 separate pieces which are painted with automotive base coat/clear coat paint that was made to match the official new Cat color that has been since the '70s. He also designed the decals as well and printed them using a white toner laser printer. The cab windows are vacuum formed over a 3D printed buck and then trimmed to size to fit inside of the cab before it is installed. He also created a few variations of the Cat. One with the ripper shank installed upside down and the blade removed (shown above and below) to emulate the way that these are hauled on a flatcar when they leave the factory as well as two other versions. One with the blade installed and the ripper installed the "correct" way and another with a winch on the back in place of the ripper. He has also printed these as the smaller 1/160th scale. Included below is a link to an album which shows progress photos as Trevor worked through the design process. See more on the evolution of this model here https://tinyurl.com/4c8jr9hn
