Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

2008 Ford F-550 Brush Fire Trucks - By Richard Olson

Presented here is Richard Olson's kitbashed River Point Station brush fire truck. This had been on the bench for about 15 months, mostly waiting for him to paint it (which isn’t much since it’s a decorated RPS model). The model started as the two-door pickup combined with the crew-cab brush rig. The pickup chassis was “lifted” by delicately separating the axles and suspension parts from the frame. New axle tubes, skid plate and Richard's own 3D printed off-road tires and wheels finish the chassis mods. A beefy winch bumper/grille guard was fabricated from styrene and brass wire and installed as well as a front-mounted deluge gun nozzle and piping. The water tank was moved slightly rearward to accommodate a spare tire and scene-lighting beneath the small roll bar. Axe, pick, chainsaw, and hand tools were added to the bed.
